Featured Artist: Cristina Acosta

Born in Los Angeles, Cristina Acosta is a Latina artist from a family with a rich artistic history. Her abuelita (grandmother) Catalina Ortiz Acosta was a concert pianist, performing in Southern California beginning in the 1920's and ending with her passing in the 1990's. Her father also enjoyed a musical stint as a classical pianist. Though Cristina was anything but musically talented, she was inspired by her abuelita's artistry both at the piano and with the home arts of decorating, clothing design and cooking. Her Abuelita's artistic example encouraged Cristina to follow her own calling as a visual artist.
A painter, author, interior design color consultant and cook, Cristina applies her artistic vision to a variety of mediums, receiving national acclaim for her artwork. Her artistry is featured in a variety of books and magazines, including her successful art book, Paint Happy!, She illustrated the children’s book, When Woman Became the Sea, and contributed to many other books and periodicals including Artist Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, House Beautiful, Latina magazine, Good Housekeeping, and Woman’s Day design publications. Museums, galleries and collectors exhibit or collect her work. Cristina resides with her family in Bend, Oregon
